Small Ceramic Heater
I bought one of these small electric ceramic heaters for our RV and it sits on the top step at the front of the van and it heats the lounge area, as well as the rest of the van.
The heater has 2 heat settings which is handy to have. There is an 850 watts setting and a 1500 watts output as well. The lower setting is the most used and it is very economical to run at less than a kilowatt. In the dead of winter I can increase to the top heat setting for more comfort.
You can also have the heat turned off, but still have the flame effect screen visible, which creates a nice atmosphere.
The fire I have now is actually the second one. I had the first one for 11 months and it developed a small fault. I contacted the supplier thinking that they would delay replying for a month and then say it was out of the 12 month warranty! The good news is, they replied right away and sent out a brand new ceramic fire and told me just to dispose of the old fire responsibly.
I can highly recommend this ceramic flame effect fan heater and the manufacturer’s warranty, as I have first hand experience of it!

Understanding Ceramic Heaters
Ceramic heaters are a type of portable heating solution that harnesses the properties of ceramic plates to provide efficient warmth. Comprised mainly of ceramic heating elements, these devices operate by converting electrical energy into heat. The ceramic plates heat up rapidly and distribute warmth effectively, facilitating a comfortable environment in enclosed spaces such as caravans and motorhomes. This method of heating sets ceramic heaters apart from traditional heating solutions, which may rely on open flames or less efficient heating methods.
The functionality of ceramic heaters can be attributed to their dual technology, which incorporates both the ceramic heating elements and fan technology. The fan plays a critical role in enhancing the distribution of heated air throughout the space, ensuring that warmth reaches all corners of the caravan or motorhome. This combination allows for quick heat-up times and even temperature distribution, which are critical factors for maintaining comfort during colder months.
One of the standout attributes of ceramic heaters is their safety features. Many models are equipped with automatic shut-off mechanisms that activate if the unit overheats or is accidentally tipped over, significantly reducing the risk of fire hazards. This element of safety is particularly crucial for small spaces such as caravans, where the danger of fire can be more pronounced compared to larger homes.
Furthermore, ceramic heaters are known for their energy efficiency. They typically consume less power than other heating options, making them an ideal choice for those who seek to minimize energy consumption during their travels. Compact in design, ceramic heaters easily fit into limited spaces, providing effective heating without sacrificing valuable room. This blend of safety, energy efficiency, and compactness establishes ceramic heaters as a favorable heating alternative for use in caravans and motorhomes.
Benefits of Using Small Ceramic Heaters in Caravans and Motorhomes
Small ceramic heaters have become increasingly popular for use in caravans and motorhomes due to their numerous advantages. One primary benefit is their portability. These heaters are typically lightweight and compact, making them easy to transport from one location to another. Whether moving from site to site or simply rearranging the caravan’s interior, the ease of handling a small ceramic heater is a significant plus for travelers.
Another major advantage is their simplicity of operation. Most ceramic heaters are designed for user-friendly functionality, featuring straightforward controls for temperature settings. This ease of use allows individuals to quickly adjust warmth levels to their comfort without the need for extensive technical knowledge, ensuring a pleasant environment regardless of the outdoor temperature.
Small ceramic heaters also stand out for their low power consumption. In environments like caravans and motorhomes, where energy efficiency is critical, these heaters do not require excessive electricity to operate effectively. Many models provide powerful heating without overconsuming energy, allowing for long-term use without risks of depleting onboard power supplies.
Moreover, the efficiency of small ceramic heaters in warming confined spaces cannot be overstated. They are designed to quickly heat up small areas, providing immediate comfort in cool conditions. This capability is particularly important in caravans and motorhomes where larger heating appliances may be impractical or too bulky.
Safety is paramount when using electric heaters in confined spaces. Small ceramic heaters often come equipped with essential safety features such as tip-over protection and overheat shut-off mechanisms, which minimize risks associated with their use. By ensuring that heaters automatically shut down in case of unsafe conditions, users can enjoy warmth in their living spaces with peace of mind.
Key Features to Look for When Choosing a Ceramic Heater
When selecting a small ceramic heater for your caravan or motorhome, several essential features should be considered to ensure optimal comfort and safety. First and foremost is the size and weight of the heater. A compact design is advantageous when space is at a premium, as it allows for easier storage and handling during travels. Look for a unit that is lightweight yet powerful enough for your heating needs.
Heating capacity is another crucial factor. The heater should effectively warm the space while taking into account the size of your caravan or motorhome. Check the wattage and the square footage coverage offered by the heater to ensure it will adequately heat your area, particularly during colder months or in cooler climates.
In addition, consider the adjustable settings. A ceramically heated device with multiple temperature settings provides flexibility, allowing you to customize the warmth based on your personal comfort level and the outdoor temperature. Features such as a thermostat can enhance this capability by automatically regulating the environment, which can also boost energy efficiency.
Moreover, pay attention to the noise level of the heater. A quiet operation is vital for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, particularly during the night or in quiet campsites. Check user reviews to gauge how much noise different models produce in real-world settings.
Lastly, ensure that any ceramic heater you consider has the appropriate safety certifications. Look for features such as overheat protection, tip-over shut-off, and certification marks from relevant safety organizations. These protective features will give you peace of mind while using the heater in enclosed spaces. By carefully evaluating these key features, you can choose a heater that meets your specific needs and provides reliable heating for your caravan or motorhome.
